Mom Confessions and Rambles

Remember when confession posts used to be the 'thing'? We should bring them back. They're good for the soul. Also good for not making me feel bad about it being 5pm and I'm sitting on the couch - in my pajamas mind you - while I should be getting dinner ready... we'll just have leftovers (again).

Hadley's confession this week: she's not a fan of the bumbo, as much as I'm trying to force her to be.

Why don't we start with a few Hadley confessions? Remember when I thought we were going to call her Haddie? We really don't. Like at all anymore haha. Hadley just fits her better! 'Hads' has been more of the nickname that has stuck. And I think she's actually starting to recognize her name when we say it! She'll turn her head and look at us... well, like 50% of the time.

I am starting to love dressing her up now that she's a little more active, and not just laying around sleeping. I love me some Baby Gap (like that onesie above - heart eyes) and I just placed my first Zara Kids order. I've also done a lot of Instagram stalking on small biz baby shops over the past few weeks and can't wait to pick up a few things in the next size up. I'll be sure to share my favorites soon! Honestly, I'll dress her in anything that does not have a million buttons. DESPISE the buttons.

One of my goals for the new year is to really start working on my photos. I want to document Hadley's childhood in the best possible way that I can, and that means properly learning how to use my camera. I downloaded the app 'Collect' which gently reminds you to take a picture each day and upload it to your calendar in the app - it's pretty cool.

Speaking of apps, my phone storage situation is awful. Mainly because I take like 50 pictures of the baby a day and can't bring myself to delete a single one. I was trying to make space on my phone the other night by getting rid of things I don't use, when I realized that I still had the 'Full Term' contraction tracker app that I downloaded that early morning that I went into labor - and I seriously cannot bring myself to delete it. I love that it has all of my contractions saved and how cool to be able to look at it still. ALSO (this is embarrassing, and gross) I still have all of the positive pregnancy tests that I took saved under my bathroom sink. What is wrong with me?!

Anyway, I think that was enough for one day. Now I'm off to try and put together a tablescape for this weekend - Hadley is getting baptized on Sunday and we're doing a big celebration meal here afterwards! I picked up these plaid candles today, how freaking cute are they?

Or maybe I should go make us some dinner...

  2. LOL can I call you a hoarder?! Oh wait, confessions should be judgment free. My bad. ;)

I have a solution for the pictures.... move to Dallas, be my neighbor, and we will take allllllll the Hads pictures. Which btw is the cutest nickname!!

  3. I keep meaning to utilize iCloud better for picture storage, but still haven't. I'm always running out of space!

  4. My pictures are such a mess, too! I love the idea of that app that reminds you to take a pic - I might have to try that! That is so funny she doesn't like the Bumbo! I swear Camden came out of the womb 100% cool with sitting in it! So I guess she's not sitting up at all yet?

  5. Yay for bringing back the confession posts! I will have to do one myself. I also still have the positive pregnancy test so you are definitely not alone in that! I feel your pain with the picture storage situation, I got the google pics app that lets you save all your pics to a cloud and then lets you free up space once they have successfully saved to the cloud...it's a lifesaver!

  7. I think confession posts are fun! I do them about once a month or so. I only saved 1 pregnancy test... the one that actually says "pregnant." But I ended up just taking a picture of it for the baby book and then throwing it away during a cleaning purge. Ha! We actually never had a bumbo for R and she did fine, so don't worry if H doesn't really like hers! :)

  8. Girl I have all my positive pregnancy tests saved too! Like, errrrr, 25 of them (monkey covering face emoji)! I'm surprised I haven't done something ridiculous like frame them hahaha totally kidding but I cannot throw them away! Thank you for all the girl clothes recommendations, I've been browsing away and loving everything!

  10. Haha, love. First off, I still have all my pregnancy tests from Ben more than two years later under our sink in a plastic bag. I'm saving them! We're having such trouble trying to get pregnant again and knowing that might be the only time I ever got a positive test and baby...worth keeping, I promise! Also, gotta check out the collect app, thanks! And oh my goodness did I despise buttons too, haha.

  11. I have horrible phone storage problems too! Even if I know I have them backed up and saved elsewhere, I just can't bring myself to delete photos off my phone!!

  12. The Google Photos app has been a game changer for me and my phone storage! You can back everything up, and then there's an option right from the app to delete the originals on your device to clear up storage. All you have to do then is delete everything from the trash folder. I love it! I bet it's so fun to dress Hadley up a bit more now!

  13. I want to check out that app.
Hey - download the Shutterfly app. You can upload your pictures there which makes it easy for prints or other cute things... & there is no limit in storage. Then you can delete off your phone. & if you want to ever use it on your phone, you can go to your shutterfly account & download it back to your phone ;) I always recommend it to moms with full phones ;) (or people like me taking pics of dogs 100 times a day) ;)

  14. I totally saved my pregnancy tests too and still would have them if Theo hadn't thrown them away! I used to have an issue with storage too but I recently switched to the Google pixel phone and it has unlimited storage! Best thing ever! Love that idea of that app to remind you to take a picture a day!

  15. Girl don't worry I've saved a lot of ridiculous things from my pregnancy and hospital stay because I just can't seem to part with them and because memories. As for the photos, I do a photo dump onto the computer every once in a while which frees up storage, my husband then saves everything to an external hard drive so we won't lose everything when the computer dies/crashes.

Love the nickname Hads! I have a bazillion nicknames for Serena, and wouldn't have it any other way <3

  19. I can never get rid of pictures or anything like that! I had Greyson's pregnancy tests for a couple years until they faded away fully (so much shame!)

  21. If you want to take an online class, the momtog class is great for beginners. It will teach you a lot. And follow tons of photography accounts as well as photographers whose style you like!
