15 Books in 2017

I seriously need to get some natural light in my house. We haven't seen the sun in a few days and it makes for awful pictures. And I swear SAD is a real thing.... is it spring yet?

Anyway, let's talk about one of my favorite Christmas gifts - my Kindle! I've always loved reading, but really haven't made time for it over the past few years. Truthfully, I do have the time occasionally, but I tend to waste it mindlessly scrolling through my stupid cell phone. Why is that thing so addicting? Tell me I'm not the only one.

This year, one of my goals is to put the phone down and spend that time enjoying things that make me happy. Reading being one of them. I'm hoping to get through 15 books this year, which I think is totally doable. I've already FLEW through It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover and loved it. Right now I'm reading Cancel The Wedding (having a hard time getting into it honestly) and I just started The Battle Plan For Prayer that I'm reading a chapter of each morning and it's a nice way to start the day and get my head right.

What else is on my list for this year...

It Ends With Us
Cancel The Wedding
Battle Plan for Prayer
Present Over Perfect
Secrets of Midwives
The Five Love Languages
What Remains
Luckiest Girl Alive
The Nightingale
The Good Girl
Truly Madly Guilty
The Weekenders
The Nest
The Rumor
Where'd You Go Bernadette

I'm obsessed with my Kindle. It's the Paperwhite version - I've had it for a month and still haven't had to charge it! I was worried that it would be strange not reading an actual book, but I don't mind it all and the screen doesn't bother my eyes at all.

As for my case, I got it on Amazon (of course) and really love it, especially for the price. There were a bunch of different colors to choose from and I like that it's super slim and has the auto on/off.

What's on your reading list?

  1. Girl, the only one I will tell you NOT to read is The Weekenders. It sounds like a good story but it is SO hard to get into and the characters kind of suck all around. I read that one on vacation this past summer when I went to Greece and the only reason I went through it semi fast was to get it done. I gave it 2.5 stars and that felt generous haha. I normally don't warn people off of books, but the comments I got on that book all were like my thoughts.

  2. I want to read the Nest! I hope you like the good girl & The rumor - I loved both!! xo, Biana -BlovedBoston

  3. I'm getting better at putting my phone down/away since I got my Fitbit! It notifies you when you are getting a text or call so I know I won't miss something if my cell is not directly in my line of sight which means I don't pick it up mindlessly! Every book on your list is one I want to read, too! I just finished The Luckiest Girl Alive and really liked it. I'm reading The Magnolia Story now and love it!

  4. Pinning this list! I'm hoping to get back into reading this year too. Currently reading Grace not Perfection by Emily Ley. Next on my List is the Magnolia story about the Gaines! These all sound good too!

  5. I am so happy you are loving your Kindle. It's great to have the option of that with 'real' books. I always love how long the batteries last too.

    I loved Where'd You Go Bernadette :)

GIRLLLL - SAD is totally a real thing!!!!

  6. adding It Ends With Us to my reading list! xo jillian - cornflake dreams

  7. Oooh, a white Paperwhite - so pretty! Ryan and I both got cases for our Kindles for Christmas, and we love them, too. Makes it easier to grip the Kindle! The Nightingale was my favorite book last year, so I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it.

  8. I will be interested to hear what you have to say about Luckiest Girl Alive. It was a frustrating read for me. I had a like/hate relationship with main character! But there were some very surprising parts to the plot!

  9. SAD is totally a real thing. The Nightingale is amazing, bump that up to the top of your list :) i'm glad you're loving your kindle! they are so handy.

  10. Wow your Kindle holds an amazing charge, and look at those sweet little hands! Sending lots of *hugs*, warmth, and sunshine your way. When I lived up north, winter was rough with a capital woof :-P

  11. This is such a great list! I really loved It Ends With Us! Such a powerful read. Loved Secrets of Midwives and The Nightingale, too.

  12. I've heard so many good things about "It Ends With Us"! Might need to add it to my list! Over the summer I read Eight Hundred Grapes and The Hopefuls...such light, easy reads! the new design!!! I've been totally MIA on blog sorry if I'm late to the party ;)

  13. I feel you on SAD. The sun came out yesterday for the first time in awhile & it was wonderful. I just read The Good Girl and LOVED it so I hope that you enjoy it too! I need to read Truly Madly Guilty too! :)

  14. SAD is totally real!! My boston kids have sun lamps that mimic natural light? Maybe that would help? Maybe. I don't know... lol!

  15. The Nightingale was my favorite book that I read last year. Hope you love it! Cheers, Laura

  16. I think I have SAD. It's been such a gloomy and rainy winter here. I read Luckiest Girl Alive and it was good. If you're thinking it's going to be like Gone Girl, it's not but it's a good story in its own right. Just forget about any comparisons to Gone Girl.

  17. I'm hoping to read more, too! I am currently reading Grace, Not Perfection and it's great. I also read Present Over Perfect last year and thought it was really inspiring.

  18. So my book Club just read Truly Madly Guilty and while everyone else loved it, I thought it was pretty meh!

  19. I just finished The Nightingale and LOVED it, but there were definitely tears at the end.
